Yin Yoga – The Art of Loving Kindness

Ashley Burns

Ashley facilitates traditional Yin Yoga sequences designed to encourage the free-flow of Chi through the meridians in the body, promoting both organ and emotional health and wellbeing.   Yin Yoga is a deep meditative mat practice where each posture or asana is held for longer periods of time, usually 3 to 5 minutes.  Yin Yoga also targets non-malleable areas, such as connective tissue and joints, as well as fascia.   The gentle stretching of the fascia and the intrinsic micro- shifting of the bones and joints affords the body an opportunity to lubricate and activate deep and sometimes challenging-to-reach areas.

In addition, holding asana and committing to stillness affords practitioners the opportunity to contemplate and observe the experience of Life with compassion and fascination on a physical and emotional level, bringing about greater mental clarity and a deeper relationship with themselves.


Ashley has been inspired by the lineage of Sarah Powers.
