Yoga – 101 – Getting Yoga Right (for beginners or for review)
Beginners, learn the basic essentials of yoga over 2 weekends, with Bruce Burger.
You will learn how to practice yoga safely and confidently, with a natural intelligence to your practice.
You will also learn the following:- The essentials of poses, how to free your breath, how to move with your breath, as well as basic meditation, in a safe and easy-to-understand way.
This is the class for those who have shied away from yoga, for students who wish to be confident in their knowledge of “yoga essentials”, as well as for yoga teachers wishing to brush up on the finer aspects of their teaching.
Workshop 1: Preparing for practice, standing poses, forward bending, twists, Introduction to Vinyasa Yoga and Surya and Chandra Namaskar
Workshop 2: Backward bending, Inversions, Advancing your practice through Breath work, Energy work and Meditation
You’re also invited to stay after the workshops for tea and meeting fellow yogi’s and have an opportunity to chat further to Bruce and Kerry, studio owner.
First session: R250 only

My Approach to Teaching Yoga:
My passion for Yoga reflects through compassion-based teaching methods, with emphasis on the Yogi’s individual requirements, irrespective of their level of practice, acting as a “guide” for the Yogi on their personal Yoga journey, this is ideal for beginners yoga approach.

Bruce lived a professional corporate life. In 2006 he studied Reiki at the Reiki Master Level and then in 2007 Mindfulness Meditation and so began his journey into conscious living, eventually leading him to Yoga.
In 2011, Bruce became a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher, taught by Cherryl Duncan and Sarah Bentz – Living Yoga (ERYT200). In 2013, to enrich his teachings, he completed the international Jivamukti Yoga 300hr teacher training with Sharon Gannon and David Life of Jivamukti Yoga.
His current interests relate to all aspects of Yoga, acknowledging traditional practices, Mantra, Japa, Raja, Jnana, Bhakti, with emphasis on asana, pranayama and dhyana.
All Yoga teachings are already within our fabric and Bruce encourages students to rediscover the joy of Yoga themselves through regular practice on and off the mat. Yoga unites us back with our creative source, and only the student can do this for themselves, becoming their own teacher.
